    Human rights situation in Europe has not improved since 2011. Then how could the number of pending applications dramatically decrease? Not because that the ECtHR is delivering justice faster. It’s because reaching the Court has become more difficult. Not a thing to be proud of.

    I must say I think its terribly cute? sweet? naive? that anyone in Ankara would assume that MbS will not be holding a grudge over how Turkey has handled and been handling the Khashoggi incident (well managed narrative control by Turkey, for a change).

    Much of the international liberal order seems to be built on the idea that shared values will be built because of shared economic interests. So far it has turned out economic interests operate perfectly fine without the 'shared values' component.

    I've read this piece by and has left me perplexed. It seems to be arguing that liberal values are not solely Western but argues that the West needs to do more to protect liberals elsewhere? (And a West that is not as liberal as it once use to be).
