Turkey did this exactly in idlib, they made jointy operations in idlib with HTS (formerly known as al qaida), they established outposts to protect al qaida affiliated and other islamist terror groups from SAA attacks.

I missed that, but he was wrong if he did. The pockets in Deir Ez Zour are in a lot of trouble, but they're still operating with a coalition of other jihadi groups in Afrin and Al Bab, in the northwest. Those groups have Turkish protection though, so getting rid of them is harder
