An opinion on the opinionators

My opinion:

My Opinion™ is that all the people with Opinions™ (read: FA Griefers) are not helping the current situation.

My Opinion™ is that all the people with Alternate Opinions™ (read: FA Griefer Griefers) are only making things worse.

My Opinion™ is that all of these Opinions™ and Alternate Opinions™ are really taking up a lot of bandwidth by Opinionating over things that aren't going to get done any faster whether they Opinionate or not.

And, finally...

My Opinion™ is that it DOES suck that FA's down, but it's NOT the end of the world (much like a good many others think). And, while there are good points being brought up by those who are upset by the extra downtime EVERYONE seems to be missing a REALLY important point. Especially the artists that are on the more vocal side of things.

Yes, FA is a great tool to use for commissioning purposes, and for communicating with those who have commissioned you. But, they're not responsible for your lack of providing an alternate means of communication (read: email address. And, you shouldn't be holding them responsible for that, either.

THEY are not the ones that arranged your commissions for you. YOU did.

THEY have NEVER guaranteed that the site wouldn't have problems. Errors happen. They're doing each and every one of us a favor by providing a service like this for FREE. And, we rely too heavily on the fact that it will always be there for us without any expectations from them of compensation for it. We should be thankful and patient for it.

Having said that, I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't be "allowed" complain. Of course you can. It's everyones inalienable right to do so, right? Right.

So, I'm not saying all of this to tell anyone to STFU over it or anything. I AM suggesting, however, that everyone keep an open mind to what's going on. You don't have to like it. But, give the rest of us who ARE being patient a break. It's not making things any easier by bitching and moaning as much as you are. And, YES, you ARE bitching and moaning.

You can try and tell me you're "justified" all you want. And, you are. But, justified or not, you're still bitching and moaning, and it's still annoying to the rest of us who are ALSO annoyed with the downtime.

Again, just something to try and keep in mind.

Seeya!

I still say 20k+ in donations should have had the servers up and running in less than a week.
Good for you.
since when does money make time pass faster?
Money doesn't always solve problems. They've explained numerous times in numerous places that it all came down to shipping errors. This problem would have been solved much sooner had the couriers gotten the equipment to them sooner.

And, last I heard, it was $17K, not $20K+.

THANK YOU!
I've been thinking this for days but didn't say anything because I didn't want to exacerbate the situation.

True. But, like I said, we're all free to. And, we, the people who are otherwise being patient with the admins and mods of FA have just as much right to complain about the complainers as the complainers do about the downtime.

My take is that people are complaining without having thought it through. Anyone can complain. But, when the complaint is just for the sake of complaining and not for the sake of maybe trying to resolve something (which is what I'm attempting to do) it just comes across as annoying.

Even so, I'm not trying to STOP anyone from doing it. Just asking everyone to think before speaking.

errors like not constantly collecting backup information just in case?
They HAVE been collecting backup information. The server burned out. How does backup fix a damaged piece of hardware, I wonder?

Speaking of which I had just left you a comment when FA went down X3
Dude! I've still got your conbadge sitting on my art table. O_o

Let's get this bad boy goin'! Lemme know where I should send it to! :)

(SERIOUSLY my bad for not giving you a way of reaching me. But, it was AC 07. I was younger and not as brilliant. ;))

Email me at pegasus316@wanderingtrials.com and we'll do this up. :)
Finally, someone with rational SENSE and intelligent opinions.

THANK YOU.
I like how the end of this journal post became one huge advertisement.
Oh, that's just my signature. All my LJ posts end that way (although, admittedly, I did add the FA address in there this time around).

Can't help but notice you might be trying to make a point here, though. ;) Or, am I inferring a passive/aggressive response where I shouldn't be? (Wouldn't be my first time, admittedly.)
