    Devastating news - an unimaginably brave Syrian & friend, , was murdered today by unidentified gunmen in Kafranbel, . I hosted Raed at in July & he spoke of the threats he’s faced from & al-Qaeda. He insisted his work could not be stopped.

    Take special note that is mentioned so specifically here, amid a climate of - attempting to smooth things over with vis-a-vis . Labeling Russia in the same vein as is a significant move by the US government - especially now.

    Envoy De Mistura is staying on for an extra month - to try [again] to create a 3-tier constitutional committee. Odds are against him - has *completely* rejected *any* foreign role in constitutional issues.

    Special envoy Staffan De Mistura for confirms to Security Council he is staying in post for one last task - will report again in December whether he can convene constitutional committee, and if not, why not.

    was brutally murdered in what appears to have been, by all accounts, a premeditated act. That’s all that should matter, and the only thing that should be on people’s minds. Distracting with allegations of personal misbehaviors is just that: a distraction.

    Khashoggi was already married to ‘secret wife’ in June ceremony in DC. Atr provided The WaPost with text messages she & Khashoggi exchanged and photos of them together & wedding, which was not registered but done according to Islamic law w Imam.
