Richard's a really useful reminder of how the British state operates regarding Turkey and the Kurdish question. Really illuminates the extent of the entrenched Turkish narrative that sometimes doesn't come across from the government ministers themselves.

Many of the PKK before joining the PKK were civilians, peasents, shopkeepers, teachers, academics..., until they saw that just being Kurd, speaking Kurdish, asking for peace verbally is enough for Turkey to sentence them as terrorists.
