Howlr Statement
August 26th, 2018
A few words first..

Howlr is a pet project developed and distributed by a small group of French furries for the fandom. It was one of the ideas we had in our furry related projects spree. It never aimed to be anything more than a free app for the community, and would never be set to grow to a company scale.

Following its success, we decided though to cover it under a non-profit organization under the French law of 1901. This would allow us to receive donations and legally force full disclosure and transparency on the organization's spendings, so that we could be trusted in the fact that all the donations would go to the app's running costs and nothing else.

There have been complains that Howlr's communication or running is not professional. We are not marketers. We are developers. We are just trying to make our little project become something.

We have tried to give it a somewhat professional feel but it hasn't worked out. So now we are back to just working on making the app better, and the only communications that will be done after this will be developer change logs.

The Team and the Moderation

It has been widely trimmed down to the left developers and a handful of moderators. No more PR department. All the PR will be done by us developers and will only consist of changelogs.

User service as well will not go through anyone but straight to us. The moderators are just here to make sure everyone respects the terms of use.

You will find here the moderation FAQ, where you will be explained thoroughly how it works and how limited in rights and view the moderators are.

Communications

From now on, as mentionned previously, all communications on Twitter will only be changelogs or important announcement.

We will not do user service through social media. It will only serve as an annoucements account. This twitter will work exactly like the HowlrApp Telegram channel.

All the user service will stay through email and Telegram which put you directly in contact with us, the developers.

What now

We are going to keep working on Howlr and make it more and more awesome for you.

We have cut ties with what would be the ‘old’ Howlr Team, and going back at it with a fresh start. And we will start looking into financing through donations, via the organization we created.

You can check this FAQ about the Howlr non profit organization to learn about all this in details.

Conclusion

We deeply regret all that has been going on these past weeks, and have learned the hard way how to deal with these kinda situations. But we will keep providing our beloved community with an app that we know for a fact has allowed amazing things to happen around the world.

We apologize for the miscommunications that happened and to have let people spread unverified and untrue information about Howlr.

If anyone had any concern about how we run things, we would really love to learn it through normal communication pipelines, instead of through violent tweets in our direction. Our only concern is to give you all the best app we can, and for that, we need to know when something is not clear or seems wrong.
Please send us an email or a Telegram message and let us know your concern, and we will be happy to explain things further in details or make another public statement to clarify things, like the moderation process.
Nothing constructive can come out of insulting us or subtweeting to us. And we want constructive! We want you to have an awesome app!

Thanks for reading all through here, we hope things are clearer now, and if not, please, contact us on Telegram or email!

Now let's get back to business and keep the fun going!
