  2. It is a great insult to Raed Salah and Hamoud Jnaid when we say that they were assassinated by unknown gunmen. We all know the murderer, we know him very well. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham killed both of them and others who dedicated their lives for freedom and Democracy.

    Today the Syrian media activist Raed Fares of Kafranbel was assasinated. Fares was an iconic figure of the original revolution and mastermind of the famous Kafranbel banners. He had previously survived raids and an assisination attempt, but still seemed indomitable. No words

    Raed could have left Syria for good, as did the vast majority of activists who had this option. Raed refused, despite the threats. He was an incredibly brave, optimistic and funny man. He leaves 2 sons, Mohamad & Ahmed. RIP

    There will be no end to their spirit and beauty in death. Rest In peace Raed Fares, Hamood Jneid and Khaled Issa before them. And live on as icons of the nonviolent struggle against the iron fist of the fascists, those in neckties and those with beards.

    A new tragedy is added to our long tragic record, tens of times I’ve asked him to leave after he was targeted for the first time and then a second time, and now the third brutal terroristic targeting he has been killed. He was stubborn and dismissive, he would simply answer;
