    When the protesters reached the outskirts of Saida, they came under intense gunfire from all directions. They had walked into an ambush at an army checkpoint near the town where the soldiers had waited for them. More than 60 protesters were killed and dozens more were arrested.

    I agree. Many sided with rebels while they seemed winning, and while they estimated Assad was the sure loser. As rebels stalled and their healf hearted & manipulative "Friends of Syria" backstabbed them, they did too. Opportunists side with wherever the wind blows.

    regime has killed 100.000s of civilians in 7+ years. |n army has killed 10.000s of civilians in Syria in 3 years. army has killed far more civilians in Syria in 4 years than the rebels in 7+ years. Rebels have not killed many civilians.
