Be afraid this FRIDAY (the 26th ) before Halloween at the EXDO Annex near Downtown Denver (same place as last year)! (Exdo Annex 1250 E 31st Ave, Denver CO 80205) Multiple cash bars, great menu for noms, a whole 3rd floor dedicated to the fursuit headless lounge (open to everyone), and tons of functional space. Everyone is invited, including friends! All ages welcome, 21+ if drinking (duh!). If you bring your young and tender babies/kids we will have a grand feast! $5 admission for everyone. 7:00pm until 2:00am. Costume contest with great prizes! Parking is to the East of the building, on the SW corner of Marion St and 31st Ave. Overflow parking (dirt lot) is on the NW corner of the same intersection. Lightrail station serving the end of the "D" route (30th and Downing PnR) is on the opposite corner of the same block as the venue. Costumes are optional (if you don't wear one, maybe we can turn you into a zombie the easy way!) DJ's will operate the dance floor. Recent remodeling of the venue includes new dressing rooms. | | I really shouldnt have to tell any of you any of the details, so I'm going to bring a few things to general attention. I've been getting a lot of pictures, and hearing a lot of the stories... http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8281942/ from  Ritz_Bitz http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8282897/ from  BluSong IF ANYONE IS ABLE TO HELP OUT: there are plenty of people being displaced and left homeless by these fires...so for our part, let's do everything we can, at the very least, to help out our own.  AeroCollie made a shout on the front page this morning, for example, that he has been left homeless because of the inferno. I dont know what the situation is for him, currently, but please offer him (and others like him) as much support as you can. Next on the list is a small fundraiser being headed by  KemarCyri Every bit helps, so if you choose not to participate in the fundraiser, see if there isnt something else you can do. Details below. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3597578/ I am mostly content with not having a television and not watching T.V. However, sometimes something huge and devistating happens, and unless it blows up my twitter, facebook, or Reddit, I usually don't hear about it. And for some reason, I just now got wind of the raging fires going on in Colorado.
This is horrifying - the fire is nigh uncontainable and has already destroyed hundreds upon thousands of homes, and claimed who knows how many lives of humans and their fuzzy companions.
Sadly I cannot be of much help right now, so tomorrow at 3pm PST I will be holding a charity livestream.
Pay whatever you like, donating to the Colorado Red Cross or other disaster relief efforts. There is a list of places you can donate here. I would suggest the red cross because they are easiest to donate to, but I will accept proof of donation from any on the list except the salvation army. (I do not agree with their ethics and their opposition to human rights efforts.)
If there is an option to donate as a "gift", please enter the email as kemarcyri[at]gmail.com and the name as Cyri. That's the easiest way to get the proof to me quickly and painlessly.
What is drawn depends on the donation amount. $1-$5 would be a chibi or sketch or icon. $6-$10 might be a full-body colored sketch, $10-$15 might be a full colored one-person drawing, so on and so forth. If I get any large donations that will take a considerable amount of time, I will probably start on it, and finish it over the next few days in-stream, if there are others waiting.
PLEASE pass this journal around so others know about it - hopefully we can get a healthy crowd in the stream tomorrow to help out. That's all for now, folks. Please do your best to stay safe. | | Looks like the June calendar is already filling up ladies and gentlemen! For those of you who will not be attending Anthrocon, dont fret! There is still plenty to do all month, all over! The one thing I need you all to realize is that this is an event to raise money for the DFL, and is not an actual furry event. If you want to go, I can not ask enough that you do. Bring a dollar. | | Hey all! I've got great news about the Taste of Colorado Festival this weekend! I've talked with the director of the entire thing, and she is SUPER excited about having fursuits attending! Staff should be somewhat aware of our presence, and things should be smooth. Of course, we also want non-suiters to attend too! If you want to attend, suit or not, we'll be meeting near the Seal Pond on SATURDAY (9/3/2011) (see map: http://atasteofcolorado.com/pdfs/20.....stival_Map.pdf). Please try to meet us around noon, as the director and myself do have a few things to say about do's and don'ts there. PLEASE suiters, remember to bring water and other necessities. | | Hello ColoradoFurs! As per the request of several of you, we're making an FA announcement. The Taste of Colorado Festival is coming through, and Cardotter has volunteered to assist in getting things together! As many of you may or may not be aware, there is discussion going at the Yahoo Colofurs group about hitting up the Taste of Colorado festival in unison, fursuits and otherwise. ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ColoF...../message/15499) For those of you unfamiliar with the event, it's a four day music/food/community festival held at Civic Center Park in Denver over Labor Day weekend (Sept 2-5th). There's a ton of bands playing music, carnival games, many of the local restaurants come to share their food, and a lot of cultural events (Mexican dancing, artists, etc.) Of course, it draws in thousands of people... Best of all, it's FREE! Some of the food and games may cost, but being there and enjoying the atmosphere is totally free.
