It's particularly ridiculous because Israel often, correctly, points out that the UN is biased. Here was a simple and clear case of a persecuted minority, why not recognize their suffering as genocide. It's not controversial, everyone sees the #ISIScrimes as genocide already

For: Zionist Union, Meretz, a few members of the Joint (Arab) list, some of Yesh Atid. Government parties voted against it, under shameful logic that the UN doesn't accept it. Can you imagine this? Israel, which always complains about the UN...now the government runs to it?!
That's sad.
Yes, it is very tragic. I have fought for years to raise awareness on this issue, to partner with different people, to write about it...to go to Sinjar, to meet with survivors...and to see such narrow minded vote on something so obvious, is a shame. Politics is hell.
Israel seems to have a big problem with showing solidarity, it seems that realpolitik and trying to make nice with reprehensible Sunni states weighs heavier than humanity these days. It is one of my least favorite things about Israel in the current time.
