    Isn’t the US “maximum pressure” strategy in Syria more about beggaring the Assad gov & less about getting rid of last Iranian? It provides cover 4 staying in N Syria & econ warfare that will exact a terrible price on Syrians. Justifies it with counter-terrorism objective.
