    That said, there are very few (public) MBS defenders left in DC, at least among those who know much about the Arab world. That's a good sign, and quite frankly it's hard to take those very few people seriously

    The fact that MBS still has some genuine defenders and apologists in the West shows the amazing resilience of the colonial mentality. People are still desperate for an inept, brutal satrap to keep everyone simultaneously backwards and contained.

    If I were the WP or others, I’d launch a a dedicated Arabic desk. Huge potential market, lots of Arabic materials could be also rendered into English & a great way to develop talent/training. Not sure if the Gulf states will then ban the website in their countries too.

    Such a smart initiative to translate news articles into Arabic by mainstream publications. Comes at a time of massive media vacuum created after major media outlets linked to different autocratic regimes have lost credibility, probably beyond repair.

    Again, and as the CIA assessed, MbS will probably be safe internally. But this does seem to be far from over as a PR & diplomatic nightmare.

    Everything points to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, MbS, ordering journalist Jamal 's killing. The Trump administration should make a credible determination of responsibility before MbS executes the men who apparently carried out his orders.
