The timing seems to be because she came forward to secure her rights as an heir. That is what the Post explains. Her marriage in no way diminishes horrible Khashoggi murder, KSA gov guilt, or Western sympathies.

I think he was trying to get US citizenship but he was refused so he tried Turkish citizenship. Since he wouldnt be able to have dual citizenship he was trying to get one from a state where he could feel secure. Someone should question why US didnt provide him a safe harbor
