Amb. Jim Jeffrey at event acknowledging that biggest US partnerin Syria is "an offshoot of the PKK" and referring to it as "the SDF/PYD." Everybody knows this, but someone at CENTCOM is going to have a heart attack over the fact that Jeffrey said it out loud in public

Even if you ignore the headline & read the article, this is still deeply misleading. The original report cited a small number of US & -supplied weapons falling to . How? The recipients lost them *while fighting* . That's war, not bad policy.

Completely bizarre revisionism is seemingly the new in-thing when addressing the conflict & how it evolved over the yrs. Some if it is clearly driven by pre-existing political agenda; and some of it is written by people who know nothing of the conflict, beyond top lines.

: Revisionism & retrospective analysis can be of real value, but nothing I've seen so far appears based on a *comprehensive* re-assessment of the situation. Instead, selective cases are being used in attempt to disprove something much broader/more established. = Distortion.

: For example, some have questioned the validity of 2014-15 claims - based, I should say on analysis since verified by regime allies - that was losing, by appearing to suggest that today's 2018 regime 'victory' disproves that such an assessment could have been accurate.
