    also, yes, the US has something of a record of violating non-citizens' rights to due process, but overseas. a lot harder to do at home.

    To be fair, while the story about Chomsky championing Erdogan is false, the story about Slavoj Zizek getting in an argument with a pro-Erdogan columnist over dildos is totally real

    To review: 1. Bar for extradition is low but inflexible. 2. Final decision made by a judge, not Trump. 3. Lot of evidence linking Gulenists to the coup . 4. Nothing solid from Turkey personally implicating Gulen. 5. Then there's the UN convention against torture.

    It also seems entirely possible to me that he assumed - incorrectly but not implausibly - that Assad would fall without US intervention.
