    The theory that Obama didn’t intervene in Syria to protect the Iran deal is widely accepted in some circles, but mostly wrong. He didn’t want to intervene. It’s far more true and very bad, but less popular to note, that he supported the Saudis in Yemen to protect the Iran deal.

    When regional powers intervene in their neighbourhood, they seem to find jihadis useful (think Iran in Afghanistan/Iraq, Turkey in Syria, now the Saudi-led C in Yemen). Something there for the US to consider (not to do the same but to get how things work)
