    This is key, I think. It means the backstop would involve a regulatory border in the Irish Sea, with checks on agricultural goods at the Port of Larne.

    The Commission is (generously) proposing to waive a short-term visa requirement for UK nationals, but only if the UK reciprocates - for *all* EU member states, yes that includes Romania, xenophobes. And Council/Parliament have to approve, of course. 4/

    It's understood there is one overall backstop to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland. It will be in the form of a UK-wide customs arrangement, but will have "deeper" provisions for Northern Ireland on the customs and regulatory side.
