I honestly cannot grasp why the FSB would make such a statement. ISIS will never return to AQ’s ranks. Nor would AQ be willing to accept them. That ship has sailed

The aim is clear, first take down Idlib. Get ISIS defeated by the Kurds. Then get the Kurds out of Eastern Syria and force the international coalition to leave Syria altogether. Assad is humming “take the power back”
