    1. Around 80% of people in live now below the poverty line, and with the conflict starting to wind down getting that number down will be the be all and end all for Damascus.

    4-The thinking in Gulf capital revolves around the idea that a stronger and more stable is the best way to slow and reverse the expansion of Iran in the region. After all, Tehran's influence was seen as to have grown as the Syrian State got weaker since 2011.

    So MI5 & MI6 asked interrogators to ask questions of a detainee who was being tortured. The false answers were then given to politicians as proof of Iraq-Al Q links and helped to justify Iraq war. Looking forward to this being headline news in the UK!

    Hayat Tahrir As-Sham is bending to Turkey's will. It has killed 15 of its own leaders who opposed the Russo-Turkish Idlib deal. This won't please the Syrian gov. which is itching to retake Idlib rather than have Russo-Turkish deal hold. H/T
