The Middle East is like a puzzle, where all the pieces were made the wrong size and overlap on eachother and don't fit.

  4. Now CNN says that the election is between more "rural, non-college educated, white voters," and more younger urban voters. Around 35%of those 25-65 have college degrees in the US. Not sure how that breaks down in most races, but this is how they explained it.

  7. And remember today that Turkey called on US to end patrols with SDF and said it will go into northern Syria. Clearly this is coordinated to some extent; but unclear how much

  8. We can see that few days ago Ankara told US to end relations with YPG, my guess is that this is part of that; namely get the US to increase bounties on PKK until such time PKK is outraged, cause tensions with YPG, and create situation where US will Work with Turkey in Tel Abyad

  9. US knows who it is working with in Syria but has always sought to distance itself verbally from the YPG; also there are differences between the Defense Department and State; this clearly appears to be a State Department way of saying it will determine US policy, not DoD in Syria

  10. This appears to be either the first time, or a rare case, such a large reward was offered for a group that hasn’t attacked Americans, at least recently, and hasn’t called for attacks on America.

  11. One could see this as a way for the State Department to placate Turkey but it’s clearly designed to provoke a split with the YPG in Syria eventually. Ankara has called on the US to severe its relationship

  12. The US doubled it’s reward for ISIS leader Baghdadi in 2016, prior to that the reward for the ISIS leader, who was responsible for genocide and murder of Americans was less than the US is now offering for the PKK leaders.

  13. News that US offering $5 million reward for PKK leaders leads to some background; in 2014 Washington Post said PKK helped save Yazidis from genocide; in 2017 US said Ocalan doesn’t deserve respect; The amounts are similar to those offered for senior Al Qaeda members
