Some of the maps I published on Twitter so far. My maps cover the topics of conflicts and ethnicity in the MENA region with a special focus on the Kurdish struggle for freedom.

There are negotiations between SDF and IS for a prisoner and dead fighter's bodies exchange. SDF offered to release some of IS families held in camps back to the area in return for captured SDF fighters from the local ash-Shu'aytat tribe, but IS demands food trucks as well.

The statement was read by Sheikh Muhammad Turki as-Suw'an of the as-Sabkhah. I don't know about his position in the tribe.

Here we have a statement by al-Waldah tribal leadership, clearly denying the propaganda that was spread claiming the tribe would call for a rebellion against SDF, among other tribes.

What a shame! Colonization succeeded so far on this island that it is enough for France to pay a bit more money to keep up a colony in the fucking 21st century. And the actual indigenuous people are too few to make a change...

Interesting thread about Turkey attempts to create chaos in SDF areas by spreading hate between Arab tribes in the area. One important tactic are false infos, as the tribal system is very complex and claims about it are hard to prove wrong.

Why I'm suspicious about the statements is because there are no actual fotos of the tribal Sheikhs or printed and signed documents. Basically anyone could have created them.

For context, al-Huwaydi was an important Sheikh cooperating with SDF and was found killed in his car two days ago. Perpetrators may be IS cells. The tribes that are claimed to have issued statements are 'Amirat, Sabkhah, Hulaysat, Waldah and Fid'an.

There are reports that five Northern Syrian tribes are condemning the assassination of al-Huwaydi, Sheikh of the 'Afadlah and called on locals to revolt against SDF. It is possibly fake as I don't know about an official statement, only some unsigned documents circulating online.
