Reports coming in that gunmen attacked a microbus of Coptic Christian Egyptians killing 7 and injuring 13 others. They were apparently enroute to a monastery in Minya province, 135km south of Cairo. Repulsive. Disgraceful. Outrageous. Solidarity with all my Coptic friends.
This blight of sectarianism is repulsive, and must be taken seriously - not as a political tool to justify authoritarian rule (which happens, often from abroad), but as an imperative to tackle this vile problem. Copts are an intrinsic part of Egypt. Full solidarity.
And no effort should be exerted to deny the sectarian discourse that *remains* from certain extremist Islamist opponents. Critique/opposition of the authorities has various genuine legitimate points: blaming Copts isn't one of them.
