To avail some concerns being voiced to us: We do not plan on being militant like previous burned furs groups. We wish to simply be a set of principles and guidelines that anyone can choose or not choose to follow and be a part of. Hostility rarely breeds lasting change.

It may be time for a new Burned Furs manifesto to set the record straight on what this new iteration is and what it will stand for. Should have it up before long. Stay tuned!

Furry is getting younger. Average age of convention attendees has been dropping fast the last few years. The furry fandom must finally clean up its act in response to this if it is to continue to be a fandom at all.

A time is fast approaching where we will have to decide if we are to continue to be a fandom at all or if we shall be nothing more than another kink community, which are a dime a dozen.

"If it feels good, do it," is one of the most self destructive philosophies an individual can indulge in. More things matter in life than one's momentary pleasure and lasting personal growth always involves self control, standards, disipline, and personal principles.

The core of the furry fandom is a mutual exploration of the concept of Anthropomorphism. What if animals could walk and talk like we do? What would such a world look like? It's a fun and beautiful idea. One that has produced untold amounts of joy and fulfillment.

Walking around the con space in fetish gear is explicitedly against the rules of almost every convention. Yet many furries seem to think that doing so is a basic human right of theirs. No. It makes you, the convention, and the fandom as a whole look bad. Have some self respect.

For those who are curious. No, this new burned furs movement does not currently involve any of the original burned furs members.

Furries have at best a mixed reputation. A good bit of that reputation is self inflicted. We must be willing to look in the mirror and see our faults, and strive to fix them. It's good to be accepting and open minded, but we can't be so open minded that our brains fall out

The furry fandom is getting larger and more mainstream. If it is to continue and be a force for good and positivity, it must clean up its act. This change isn't mandatory. It's simply what will have to happen if this fandom is to continue being a fandom at all.

Some people want only their rights and never want to hear about the responsibilities that come with those rights. Some people just can't bear to hear the idea that their behavior is wrong/unhealthy, not only to themselves but to others around them.

We often in this day and age talk about rights and personal entitlements. Know what we never ever talk about but totally should? Responsibilities and consequences.

Always be the best version of yourself.

If you realize that your own behavior is harmful or unethical, have the courage and self respect to reflect and better yourself and make amends. Better to do it now before the mob gets a hold of you.

If behavior you witness is outright illegal, you STILL shouldn't do a public callout at first. Take your concerns to the proper authorities. This keeps their investigation from being bogged down by mob drama and gets the truth out faster.

If someone you personally know is engaging in harmful or unethical behavior, publicly calling them out should not be your first move. Intervene as a friend. Show them why what they're doing is wrong. People are more likely to change if they don't feel attacked.
