Hello , I am currently looking into demonstrations or strikes or other forms of civilian shows of discontent in Afrin post-Turkish occupation aimed at specific groups. If you know of any, could you please try to share the information and sources with me? Thanks.

Imagine thinking that someone saying "He may be Black/Gay/Muslim, but he's alright" proves that someone isn't a racist/homophobe/Islamophobe. How low is the bar then, really?

Just what Kirkuk needs to harden ethnic lines - the formation of a new Arab bloc, the "Unified Arab Alliance." It is more fully Arab than the previous "Arab Bloc" because it unites Shia and Sunni Arabs in an expressly ethnic line.

Am I the only one who struggles to read Sorani in Latin script? Why can't just use the Sorani script when they write online?

When I left last year, I thought I decided not to ever return since the city was so overwhelming. But since then I can't get sights, sounds, and most importantly food out of my mind. That's why I am going back next April. And probably even the year after that.

This is disappointing on a number of levels. Mainly because civil society (including citizen-driven outlets like this) is what is needed for reconciliation and the outlet was moving towards this only to fall back to this type of writing.

If you want to read a piece that trivialises any Kurdish grievance while idolising Abadi-era government policies and Hashd operations in the province, this is the article to read.

A year ago I harshly criticised for nationalist and anti-Kurdish coverage during the Kurdish ousting and Federal takeover of Kirkuk. Since then, I felt the outlet had made great changes towards moderation only to return to terrible form with this piece.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s Abu al-Abd Ashidda points to apparent death of Jamal Khashoggi to argue the virulence of the international system and the folly of placing one’s fate in the hands of some proxy government – instead of your own, holding your weapon.
