In the Beginning Was the Word
Ukrainian Cyber Alliance (UCA) hacktivists shared with the InformNapalm volunteer intelligence community a lot of data from the mailbox of Kirill Frolov, Vice-Director of the Institute for CIS Countries, spokesman of the Union of Orthodox Citizens and a “church-going expert” (FrolovLeaks).
If you read Frolov’s email communications for 1997-2016, you may realize that the guise of an Orthodox cultist clown which was how he had been regarded by many, actually hid a rather active manipulator of religious concepts who secretly worked for destabilization in Ukraine. Frolov’s close connection to Sergey Glazyev, the Presidential Adviser on Regional Economic Integration, Vladimir Gundyayev (aka Kirill), head of Russian Orthodox Church, as well as to Konstantin Zatulin, member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and Director of the Institute of the CIS Countries determined his role in the processes deliberately implemented in the territory of Ukraine.
Analysis of Frolov’s mail leads to a definite conclusion that religion (not to be confused with faith) was used as a devious tool of deceiving and brainwashing (zombifying) people, thus forcing them into submission. It is no coincidence that religion has become the information weapon of choice for the masterminds and adepts of the so called “Russian world”.
Episode 1
As the size of the dump is very large, we will break our analysis into several episodes. The complete dump of Kirill Frolov’s mail will be posted together with the last part of our series and will be available to anyone wishing to research it in more detail. The original EML messages used in the preparation of this episode are available in the archive. The publication contains screenshots and attachments from those messages.

The Ukrainian hacktivists performed a special covert operation to gain access to Frolov’s mailbox at frolov_moskva@mail.ru. The dump contains messages dated 1997 when Frolov was corresponding with Mihajlo Fejsa <fejsam@eunet.yu>, a philosophy professor from Serbia, who was stirring up Rusyn separatism in Transcarpathia. You can also find the names of the well-known Petr Getsko, so called Prime Minister of Capathian Rus and priest Dimirty Sydor and many others in Frolov’s correspondence under the same subject.
In August, 2004, Frolov received a document titled ustav-kpd – the charter of the “Orthodox Action Corporation”, from ins@apn.ru (Institute of National Strategy established by political expert Stanislav Belkovsky). A few days later, he received a message signed “SB” and sent from the address usually associated with Belkovsky (1, 2). This message, together with many others, show Belkovsky’s connection to the Federal Security Service of Russia.

Kirill, the 45th anniversary of His Holiness ordination will be celebrated on September 3. There will be no secular reception, only the service, a dinner mainly for the clergy and a concert in the evening. No invitations are sent to anybody. I think that if a meeting is to be arranged, it does not have to be in the form of attending the dinner but as a separate appointment on the sidelines of the celebration – for example, on the 2nd or 3rd after the service and the dinner. This way, V.F. can attend both events and then participate in a special meeting with mass media etc.
Frolov also publishes a lot of articles supporting the so-called Severodonetsk separatist congress opposing Yushchenko and the central Ukrainian authorities in general. In December, 2004, he flew to Kiev. That was when the network of Frolov’s contacts in Ukraine became visible. This network included Valerij Kaurov from Odessa, Sergey Stepanov, a journalist from Sevastopol, Igor Druz from Kiev, Sergei Moiseev from Kharkiv and others. All these people represent pro-Russian forces guided by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Frolov’s correspondence with father Dmitry Poznansky, a pro-Russian priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate who died of cancer in 2010, is also interesting. Poznansky shared lots of Ukraine-related materials with Frolov, did translations for him, called for more action and for interfering with Ukrainian domestic politics.

The plan is as follows: on May 8 and 9 we are planning to hold the St. George Ribbon campaign, to give away ribbons to everyone who wants it. On the same day, together with the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) we are going to erect 20 to 30 tents to hold the “Odessa Against the Sea Breeze Exercise” referendum. The ballots will contain three questions: 1. Must the Sea Breeze exercise be held in Odessa? Yes-No-Makes no difference. 2. Do you support Ukraine joining NATO? Yes-No-Makes no difference. 3. Do you support Ukraine joining the Eurasian Economic Space? Yes-No-Makes no difference. There may be other options, these are just the working suggestions…
The campaign requires producing at least 100,000 ribbons to be distributed across the city beforehand and especially on May 8 and 9. The cost per ribbon is 1 UAH (0.2 USD), also we need at least 100,000 colorful ballots bearing the Odessa symbols, similar to those we made for the “I speak Russian” campaign. The cost per ballot is 0.6 UAH. Additionally, there is the payment to the people – 3 per tent, 15 UAH per hour. The duration will be at least 10 hours. The campaign must be held on May 8 and 9, so that we have time to announce it and gather as many participants as possible. The campaign should open with a press conference and TV spots no later than on May 1 or 2, this will give enough time to promote it. This we will arrange on our side. Besides, we must produce anti-NATO banners and organize a veteran march on the Victory Day. The cost of one banner is 250 UAH. In addition, we will organize a “Victory Race”, a concert for veterans, etc. It would be great if the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated something to the Odessa veterans, so that we could present it to them together. I can contact Valentin Sokolov, a Hero of the Soviet Union, the leader of the Great Patriotic War veterans in our region, and can arrange everything. If only Russia were willing to help…
We have to start preparations immediately, there is little time to prepare everything, although we can still do it. Of course, we have to ensure presence of the Russian mass media. There will be a lot to film!!!
Frolov’s area of interest includes not only Kyiv and Odessa. He also maintains contacts in Donetsk, one of them being Konstantin Zazvonov (donesm@ukr.net), who in 2006 worked on creating a pro-Russian organization of with Orthodox leanings. What is also interesting is the correspondence with Vladimir Kornilov (Myrotvorets data base), who at the same time was Director of the Ukrainian Branch of the Institute for CIS Countries and sent materials on the situation in Ukraine to Frolov on a regular basis: report as of March 2, froeign media on Ukraine election, provocations of New Region.
Kornilov is consistently involved in anti-state activities effectively in the interest of Russia. He monitors the information resources, gathers insider information, looks for agents of influence (for example, list of people to be congratulated in Ukraine 2007). In 2007, he sent hundreds of reports to Frolov, requested permission for trips, shared data from public sources as well as those obtained during private meetings. Now Kornilov lives in Europe continuing his anti-Ukraine activities from abroad.

- Role of the USA and Russia in the CIS, colored revolutions, events in Estonia, etc.
- What is behind the deployment of the American missile defense systems in the Eastern Europe.
- What is Russia facing after the presidential elections
- Functions of the Institute for CIS Countries and its Ukrainian branch, its personnel count, location, etc,
I emphasized the joint activities of the Institute and the Chinese last year. They got interested in that information, too. They offered assistance in the form of providing Chinese experts for our panel discussions and conferences in Ukraine. However, they added that plans for such conferences should be announced at least two months in advance.
In 2006, Frolov received more than 200 messages from Anatoliy Filatov who informed him on the existing trends in the Crimea, the Mejlis and the organization of the “Russian Orthodox Movement” in the Crimea.

Simferopol, November 2 (New Region, Viktor Orlov) – In Simferopol, a rally was held at the Representative Office of the President of Ukraine. The meeting participants demanded that the Kiev authorities removed the Ukrainian armed forces from the peninsula. New Region found out about this from the media service of the Eurasian Youth Union.
The rally participants unfurled Russian and Crimean flags and held up the “No to annexation of the Crimea” and “Sevastopol – Crimea – Russia” slogans.
“We demand that Ukraine stopped annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol which has been going on since the 1990s. Presence of the Ukrainian military on the peninsula is an act of aggression against the Republic of Crimea according to the definition in the Resolution of the United Nations Organization of December 14, 1974. Article 3 of this document qualifies any forced annexation of a territory of another state or its part as aggression and deems it unacceptable. Currently the foreign policy adopted by the political government of Ukraine has caused an actual threat of NATO military bloc infiltrating the peninsula which will inevitably result in the citizens of the Crimea and Sevastopol openly taking up arms to fight American neo-fascists and their minions” – this is an extract from the rally resolution sent to the Representative Office of the President of Ukraine.
“Only the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is able to fully ensure both the safety of the peninsula and the protection of the southern maritime boundaries of the CIS, as well as the control over the situation in the Mediterranean. Ukraine will also benefit from this, as it will be safely protected from the south…”
Often these Orthodox pro-Russian activists beg for more money or to sling mud at each other in their correspondence trying to shove the rivals away from the feeding trough.

As to Semenko, I do not care about him – he is a psycho and a swine. His level is the street, and his audience is a hundred people. He is on his own. MiSh is a different story. I published my accusations against Semenko only because I once saw him in person at a Christmas Readings panel and realized that such as him need some snubbing. I liked the collection of his stupid statements on Kuraev.ru. This is why I am distributing such materials. I have no desire whatsoever to study Semenko’s ramblings.

Therefore, analysis of the first batch of the messages and documents in Kirill Frolov’s mailbox allows the following conclusions:
- Russia started anti-Ukrainian sabotage immediately after the collapse of the Soviet Union. According to Frolov’s mailbox dump, destabilization of the Transcarpathia was considered as early as in 1997. All that time Ukraine has been under destructive pressure fuinanced by the Russian state budget, funds were allocated for creation of public organizations, institutes and sociological agencies gathering and analyzing the information required by the Kremlin.
- Many messages refer to the church. In addition to the problems of the Russian Orthodox Church, Frolov pays a lot of attention to the “Ukrainian issue”. He does his best to block the natural process of Ukrainian local church creation, interferes with Ukraine’s domestic and faith-related matters. He exercises his influence via the metropolitans close to the Russian Orthodox Church with Agaphangel, metropolitan of Odessa playing a special role.
- Frolov’s focus and influence tools are different projects expressing pro-Russian and Orthodox ideas: Association of Russians in Ukraine, Union of Orthodox Citizens of Ukraine, Cossack organizations, etc.
- Frolov was the most active in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Transcarpathia, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kyiv.
- The agents of influence representing different regions and organizations are competing for funds and support and engage in squabbles.
