    I am personally much more in favour of US than Iran regime, but Kurdistan cannot afford being used by US and be at the forefront of US fight against Iran, unless US guarantees longterm protection including building a permanent military base/s in Kurdistan.

    And one more thing to add: having good relations with Iran isnt a bad thing for KR parties, KR isn’t US and shouldn’t play anyone’s game, what is bad is being a blind proxy, be it Iran’s, US’s, Turkey’s or else.

    Having said that, the results won't change the reality, there will still be two zones, each ruled by who controls them: KDP and PUK. Now as Talabani family's grip on power in PUK zone further consolidated, expect more crackdown on freedoms in Sulimania.

    This is why PUK aggressively rejected the Election Commission's regulations, calling it a conspiracy against PUK. KDP succeeded in its mass fraud while PUK only managed to do limited fraud. According to unofficial results KDP has won 44 seats, PUK 21.
