NEW paper, for : "Rural insurgency is not an afterthought for ISIS and other jihadis who are currently on the defensive. Rather, it is a strategy that they have long thought about and planned for."

  2. In the space of three days, this account (many experts/reporters often defer to) has reported near certain reports of what happened to , and each time it proves to be wrong. Either he has extensive, diverse & insider sources, misled, or he’s making things up:

The core of of story is still that Saudi authorities kidnapped JKh, and his fate is unknown. The other story, that he was killed, is the one unconfirmed. Poor reporting by mainstream media, given the sourcing was extremely thin (even the leak was based on ‘initial’ suspicion).

Curiously, Turkish agency Anadolu now says the team that entered the consulate was indeed official Saudi police (as Okaz reported above.) Clear change of tone by officials in Turkey relative to yesterday. What’s going on?

So, despite reporting yesterday, the story of ’s killing isn’t confirmed yet. Turkish sources weren’t final, and new remarks by Erdogan leave room for other scenarios. So it’s possible indeed that Turkish leaks were meant to get his Saudi kidnappers to produce him.

My sense (caveat: I’m piecing things together here) is that they have video (a) showing JK go in and not come out, (b) “unusual personnel activity” in the days following JK’s first visit, and (c) an unknown staffer described as “seemingly packing up, moving boxes to his car.”

Many people are describing as a "dissident". He *never* described himself as a dissident, or even as an opposition figure. He always stressed he support the Saudi monarchy but wants reform. Listen to Jamal in his own words.

Congrats— this is one of the rare times the title is deserved. Yazidis/Ezidis were victim of ignorance (of their faith by their neighbors) just as much as victim of ISIS. “Nadia Murad - from rape survivor in Iraq to Nobel Peace Prize”
