From an aesthetic standpoint I really like felines, but I think the wold needs more unusual species. Bugs, pangolins, owls, stuff like that.

Been thinking about this today. I want to offer more YCH's for you guys, but what about YCH's where one slot is taken by a character of mine? Any interest in that? Or any interest in a 'Night with X' type auction? Would any of these things sound like something you'd like? YCH's could definitely be offered with Portia and Teegan, and I also have a lovely bat lady to share soon as well...
Alternatively, any specific YCH types you'd like to see? Any themes or poses, do you prefer small groups (one character or couples) or large groups (3+ characters together)? I do have some poses stocked away that I've been meaning to use, but I'd love to get some of your input because ultimately I want to provide you with what you want to see~

In an effort to not make the title infinitely long, I had to cut it off somewhere hah. There are actually 3 things I want to say in this journal--
First! I am reopening for commissions tomorrow. If you are interested in something, please send me a note or an email at inkmavenart @ Gmail . Com. Also note that this is my new PayPal email. I will take emails and notes staring tonight, but I will not check them until I am open tomorrow.
Second! A reopening for commissions also means the potential for more collaboration. If you are interested in collaborating, or if you would like to make a recommendation as to any artists you'd like to see me collaborate with or approach about working together, let me know below.
Third! I am stuck in the car. I'd like to offer a doodle for someone in this journal, so feel free to leave a reference down below. I can't guarantee the quality will be amazing due to the road conditions but I'll give it a go. It's official! I had an unplanned payment to make today that drained me a little bit financially, and my attempts at getting a fulltime job have been fruitless thus far, so I will be reopening for commissions next Monday, October 3rd.
In the mean time, this might be a good time to refresh yourself with my ToS, as it's been updated in small areas since the last time I had an opening. I can answer any questions between now and then through this journal or notes, just let me know!

Largely it was a security change for me (preemptive, I haven't had problems with paypal yet but I just wanted to be sure)
But this is also a change because my old email was long, easy to misspell, and had numbers in it.

That's right, I've had a bit of a rough week and I really need some meditative sketching time. I'm also going on a small excursion this weekend and need to pay for food. Details below, comment on this journal to claim a sketch. $5 will now get you a fairly detailed headshot, but no color will be added for anything below $10. If you order a sketch for more than $10, please specify if you would like color.

The below costs are per character. If you want 2 characters, double each number.

Anything under $30 is wing-it style and SFW.
Anything OVER $30 is upgraded to pencil-style sketches, with less line inaccuracies and better anatomy.

Posting this on mobile because I hoped that once I got home I could use my computer, but BOY have I had a plethora of issues right now regarding communication.
If you're seeing this because I linked you to it in an IM I'm sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you!!
I went on vacation this week, but brought art supplies and fully intended to work while there (it's generally a very relaxed vacation with plenty of time to do whatever) like I do most other years. A couple days into the trip we had a rather severe storm that took down some trees and we were located in a rather rural area that lost power. We were told it would tale 3-5 days to be restored, luckily we had running water and a gas stove but no light, AC, Internet, or fans (it was extremely muggy and humid) so I forcibly fell out if communication for a few days.
I am back now, but the Internet seems to be down at home as well, rendering my working computer essentially useless... So I am further delayed. Thankful that I have data and so at least I can finally communicate with you guys, but until I get Internet restored I cannot progress on any collab work, which is most of what I have to do currently.
Apologies for the inconvenience and I'll keep you guys updated on everything.

Going to be a small delay, I went camping this weekend and thought that would be the end of it but I have an appointment in my hometown in a few days and I have to get my license renewed as well. So I'll be away from my work station for the first half of this coming week! Just so everyone knows, particularly those on my queue.

I should have done this a while ago, those of you who have worked with me before know this is how I operate so there are really no 'changes' here, simply just stating some things I already work by IN my TOS so I can actually enforce them, because it's been a problem recently with several commissioners. This is the direct and only reason my commissions have been so unusually slow lately, so I'm changing my ToS in the hopes that it will make things pick up again.
To reiterate in case you have not read my terms of service:
Any commission under $50 is considered to be 'small' and you will not receive WIP's or updates of any kind until the commission is finished. It's just not cost or time effective for me to do this on smaller commissions that only take me a few hours.
Any commission over $50 is considered to be a large scale commission and therefore you as a commissioner have the right to pay in installments (with at least 50% down before any art begins), can receive WIP's at your request, and therefore can request changes when WIP's are delivered.
However that last part is where I've been kind of taken advantage of lately/been far too lenient with people, because I've had several commissioners lately ask for 4+ notes/paragraphs worth of revisions without providing any extra funds, costing me several hours in lost time. I cannot afford to keep doing this. This is my job. Not only does it slow down the rest of my work but with this being my only job, I simply cannot afford to do free work.
Therefore, the following amendments have been made to my ToS:
• Commissioners for large scale works (more than $50) are allowed to request WIP (Work in Progress) images, but may not always be immediately offered by the artist, with the exception of reference sheets and large scale illustrations. Work in Progresses will not be shown for commissions amounting to less than $50.
• When WIPs are shown, the commissioner is entitled to up to 4 small changes for free in total (i.e. 'change the hair color', 'fix the tail size', 'move the arm') but any more than 4 small changes will result in an extra labor charge ($15 per hour). The artist is not responsible for mistakes where a reference sheet is not available or the artwork provided does not clearly reference the necessary material.
Please note that while I am currently closed for commissions these changes are effective immediately and will apply to all current and open commissions at this time.

Between job stuff and my current queue I don't think I'm mentally capable of taking on any more work. You guys are amazing and I love working with you but life has just been to demanding lately. I'll of course finish everything I have right now up in relatively reasonable time, but I don't think I'll be taking on any new work any time soon. If that changes, watch my journals for small sketch promotions and the like.

Hey all, my hiatus is over! I don't think I'll be able to slip back into commissions as quickly as I had hoped, as camp turned out to be extremely demanding. It went well according to the campers which is all that matters, but behind the scenes a lot of things were very rough and the counselors ended up having to take on more responsibility than we signed up for.
Regardless, it's over now and I'm set as far as rent for the next few months... However I may not actually need it for the place I'm staying in now because I was approached about a REALLY exciting job opportunity that might take me to the west coast! I can't say much about it right now because the job isn't technically listed to the public but for now suffice it to say that I am VERY excited for this opportunity, and I hope they give me some serious consideration.
Commissions will resume as normal, I have some smaller projects to get out of the way first (traditional sketches that are not on my queue) and then I will be right back on my list of commissions. Thanks for staying patient!

I will be at summer camp and I am needed as a counselor 24/7 so I will not be home, and will likely not have access to my messages throughout most of the day.

Hello everyone! I wanted to alert you that I'll be gone and extremely hard to reach all next week and this weekend.
I took a position at a summer camp that will secure the funds for rent for the next three months, but unfortunately means I must live on campus and be available to the campers 24/7 (even though I live literally ACROSS the street from campus) ; u ;
So I won't have access to my computer, scanner, tablet, etc. I may bring something smaller but serious commissions will be on hold until I return on the 19th.
I'm not sure how much freedom I'll have, nor am I sure how often I'll be able to get on to answer messages, but rest assured I'm simply gone for a small job and will be back and submitting artwork again once I return.
Apologies to anyone who has a standing commission with me. I had plans to clear my current queue before camp, but the training we had to forego to prepare for the position has taken up a good majority of my time this week and I've been a lot less productive than I would have liked. I've also been working on some small non-commission type works which has lead to this delay, and I have no excuse for that besides trying

Just a question I was musing over tonight, after posting both the SFW/NSFW version of that lineart piece.
I know I have a somewhat recognizable style to my artwork, but I feel like I don't have a defined 'marketable' style, if that makes sense.
Like a lot of artists can produce x type of commission with a lot of success, and that's what they're known for.
So, just out of curiosity... When you see my work, what do I do that you click on out of your recent submissions? Is it the 'cute' stuff that I draw? The fantasy based stuff? The character designs? The more detailed illustrations?
Ultimately I'm going to keep posting whatever people commission me for, but I have a bit of a suspicion that that's not always what's 'popular' out of the stuff I post.

Hey guys. Just a quick update.
Firstly, my tablet seems to be back in working shape. A huge thank you to anyone who helped make that possible.
Secondly, to those of you on my commissions list currently thank you for your patience and I extend an apology to you for the wait. Generally I'm faster at this and I know I promised a few of you that I'd be faster than I have been, but between site outages and one commission on my list dragging out far longer than I expected, everything is kind of weird right now. I'm trying to do my best to recover from the outage but it's been a little bumpy.
A full time job that I'd really like to get (but am slightly under-qualified for) went up the other day, so I've been taking the last part of this week to polish and update my portfolio in an effort to apply and that's also been taking a large deal of my time.
I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope that you all have an enjoyable memorial day weekend.
