Khashoggi’s detaining or abduction, if true, is a sign of Saudi zero tolerance to even the most mild criticisism. Khashoggi was careful to always express his loyalty for the royalty despite his disagreement of policy. If he is seen an enemy, things aren’t well.

It is not yet clear what has happened to Khashoggi but I doubt that Turkey will do anything major even if he was taken out of country. Erdogan has too many problems on his desk already and last thing he wants is a row with Saudi.

In this article from few months ago, Jamal Khashoggi advised activists to avoid prison at any cost. He also talked about how Erdogan only speaks up against human rights abuse if the abuser is not an ally Jamal didn’t listen to his own advise went to Saudi consulate in Turkey!

I know many of Iraq’s problems are structural! But the same were true for Kurdistan and Barham Salih did in his two years as prime minister that other PMs hadn’t done in decades. Dr Barham and Abdulmahdi are best of what is available! Let’s at least hope they will succeed

Best thing Barham Salih has done in his presidency so far. Adil Abdulmahdi is formally designated to form the next Iraqi government.

Barham Salih is the Good Samaritan. He is a good guy (well relatively) in a very skewed system. News of his crushing victory over Barzani’s secretary is something to celebrate.

Like he ‘ I will not accept Iraq to be led by Maliki’ or ‘We will not accept anyone telling us what to do’ or that ‘it is not acceptable to go against the constitution’ or ‘I don’t accept another term’

Of course that includes its variations like ‘I will not accept it, we will not accept it, no one will accept it’! The funny part is he has accepted most of what he has vowed not to accept.

‘It is not acceptable’ is by far the most used phrase by Masoud Barzani.

The best news about today's elections in Kurdistan is the fact that there is at least half of the Kurdish electorate that rejects the failed tribal governance despite political and economic pressure. KDP/PUK tribal rule is nit sustainable. Time has arrived for change.
