Hello , I am currently looking into demonstrations or strikes or other forms of civilian shows of discontent in Afrin post-Turkish occupation aimed at specific groups. If you know of any, could you please try to share the information and sources with me? Thanks.

8/8 At the same time, rather selfishly, I am very happy that they don't belong in Kurdistan either and am content with then making their extremist jibes online back in their UK extremist bubble.

7/8 That being said, as someone who has been lucky enough to work and study in many different countries, I find myself disturbed by the level of Islamism in the UK diaspora. I genuinely have a hard time understanding why the UK allows such extremists a placs in society.

6/8 I think what this could all mean at the end of the day is that Kurdish society domestically is probably very diverse to create such a diverse and adaptive diaspora abroad.

5/8 All these communities, including the Swedish one I once again live within, reflect back on Kurdistan as somehow adhering to their community reality. The UK Islamist believes Kurdistan to be more akin to Pakistani society while the Swede believes it to be Eastern European.

4/8 In the UK diaspora, for example, there are a lot of Salafist and Kurds who (in contrast to Kurdistan) put their Sunni or Shia faith above their national identities. Often these will be seen praying at extremist mosques or using unnecessary Islamic language.

3/8 Perhaps, not unsuprisingly, I notice that most of the time Kurdish communities culturally adopt behaviours that make them resemble other existing immigration communities in those countries.

2/8 Living in the diaspora now, I notice huge differences in collective consciousness depending on which state and in which wave of emigration Kurds arrived.

1/8 I wanted to make a bit of a personal post about the diaspora. I myself am a Kurd who has spent a considerable time abroad and consider myself binational but not truly diaspora since my sense of "Kurdishness" developed in Kurdistan with study and work.

How true this is. Not just for the Sunni community but sadly also in terms of the Arab community and Kurdish citizens. The number of times I heard complaints in the KRI about nothing being in Arabic being discrimination against Arabs etc.

Regardless of the outcome of the confirmation vote, America lost something precious on Thursday. The standing of both the Senate and Supreme Court as institutions worthy of honor and respect suffered a major blow. The U.S. continues to descend into unrestrained tribal warfare.

What amazes me about the Kavanaugh accusation is that one can predict with near scientific accuracy where every pundit or politician falls on the issue, based on where they are on the political spectrum.

At least in the Middle East, we are open about our tribalism. The US looks mad from thos view.

Going to bed at the moment, in total awe at American sectarianism. The Republican party is trying its best to demonise its rival Democrat party in order to save an alleged (attempted) rapist's reputation in order for that rapist to help them restrict women's rights.

EU Member States will set up a legal entity to facilitate legitimate financial transactions with Iran. This will allow European companies to continue trade with Iran, within EU law, and could be opened to other partners in the world

Apparently got this letter sent to my former address somewhere else in Europe and this is what was in it. Could any Turkish speakers clarify if this is Christian Missionary stuff or what?

The point being: our leverage is quite limited; if we give military assistance, it is not charity, it is to achieve a strategic goal, which is maintain at least some influence. US officials threatening to cut off assistance are headed for a dead end.

Today (afternoon) there will be a debate about Dutch support program for Syrian armed groups. Experts like and will brief MPs. I wonder if will also be on the agenda. Most of the groups Holland supported, were active in Afrin.
