Down south we don't hide crazy. We sit it on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea. Sometimes we accidentally send crazy to the Senate. Oops.

Happens here in Alabama pretty often if you take a look at our politics. Seems the crazier they are the more votes they get. It's always utterly baffled me!

I've lived in Alabama for 17 yrs and it's still a total mystery to me, too. I asked a girl why she was a republican and she said because her parents are. I said what about the Party do you like? She said Everything. I'm like Hmmmm.

I'm 62, lived here all my life. My daddy was a Republican, but he would hate them now. He never talked politics much and I was probably 18 before I knew that. He never pressured my sister and me to agree. Once, I asked him why, he said it was all he heard growing up. 1/2

I just turned 61, it's a strange age to be now. We remember JFK, Civil Rights, Woodstock, Watergate...and now this. We're not quite back at square one, but we've lost alot of ground. I hope what we've seen here with Doug Jones is a harbinger of hope.
