Turkey's 2024 bid PR company boss: "OK, lads, this vote's not looking good. What could swing Europe round to us?" Young inspired exec: "Everyone loves , right? Nusret will definitely win us the vote!"

One thing that I did find interesting: whoever put together Turkey's bid video did that classic thing of finding a gorgeous blue eyed kid, the girls all without headscarves etc. I wonder why we feel the need to sell ourselves like that to the West?

It will surprise absolutely no-one to hear that Germany have been awarded hosting rights for Euro 2024. Turkey loses out again. I would have actually liked to have watched a game in Turkey but clearly, UEFA thinks not.

Regardless, those stateless globalists at the UN were definitely laughing at him, not with him. Anyone who doubts that needs to visit a doctor.

Kavanaugh exchange will get the headlines and calling a journalist "Mr Kurd" is weird but I'm still stuck on: "I was in front of a large group of people, most of whom are from either other countries or the United Nations." What does he think the UN is?

I pressed send and the kid shuts up. Is Twitter’s algorithm next gen without them telling us?

Aggressively angry baby crying on our already 2 hour delayed flight. Kid, you’re right but save the rebellion for later.

“We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism.” I really hope there will be people left to write history books and that they will note that this weirdo bragged about grabbing pussies before unhinging everything. Also, he looks really ill.

📢 Finally found time to tune into the podcast everyone has been talking about for the last 10 days - Excellent dialogue with and on football finances a la turca, why Champions League is so important and why Basaksehir are the most detestable club on earth

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, if he stays healthy, will break this record.

I will add this though because my sense of fairness requires it: regardless of previous sins, the guilt by association and social death of actual Gülenists is still terrible. Turkey blatantly needs a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. I’ll happily sit on it.

What is especially disappointing is that I have always been consistent. Stealing exam answers and doctoring legal cases were wrong back then as they are now. Being called FETÖ by people who I am 100% certain are former allies is seriously galling given that context.

I have to be honest. Twitter’s been less fun these past few weeks. For some unknown (!) reason, I’ve had plenty of trolls calling me FETÖ and it is pretty relentless. That kind of accusation lands people in jail. Throwing it at an agnostic, overly-liberal opponent is just wrong.

Reading about this Labour Conference reminds me of years of student politics (mea culpa). The people who now seem to be calling the shots were always nasty, obsessed with Israel and really quite violent. These are not good people. The UK needs to be careful with this lot.

Üşenmedim: it turns out the Liechtenstein score dropped because same-sex couples continue to face restrictions on their ability to adopt children. Of course, this ranking is a relative one and the issue is important but Liechtensteinians can probably sleep easy tonight.

The headlines from this “biggest backsliders on freedom” will go to Turkey and rightfully so but I really want to know what happened in Liechtenstein.

I feel like playing Fenerbahçe away without our playmaker Ljajic and any recognisable striker might lead to a very frustrating match.
