One perspective that I’ve heard is that farmers are in isolated areas and that makes them targets for crime. This makes a lot of sense to me. I obviously had no idea what a can of worms I would open up discussing this, but I read about it in @Newsweek

Isolation is a big factor, this also causes for the murders to be more gruesome. People can be tortured for days without being helped. Another factor is stirred up racial hatred as well though. Major parties within the SA government have openly called for the killing of whites.

South Africa is a scary place most towns you cannot be outside after dark, and even during the day you have to be on main streets and preferably in groups.

I dont think the killings themselves that ppl took issue with, it was that the alt-right may have been twisting the issue to fit their narrative. I choose to renain neutral by having no opinion because I dont know enough either way. There are more pressing matters here at home

They are not just murdered, they are tortured. Parents forced to watch their children raped and tortured! Children boiled alive. Entire families tortured for days..women raped, hung abd gutted. How can anyone look away from this and say they don't need help.
