I thought it was a private platform and could do what it wanted...
-
Nope. It is still subject to labor discrimination laws, like all private companies.

It’s no surprise that FB continues to do more damage than good

This is getting confusing. Would you do the same for the owner of a billboard that posted the same add? Perhaps the add info given to
@facebook is based on historical hiring data (which can be problematic) or other labor data? FB can't be expected to be the police of all. -
Not confusing at all. Ads for jobs should not be segregated by age, sex or other discriminatory basis. You seem to be arguing “but what if they just wanted men?” which is actually discriminatory.
-
I guess it's since online ads can be targeted precisely? Or would it be discriminatory to place a job ad in a magazine that is predominantly read by men, for instance? Me, I have no clue. Will be interresting to see the outcome anyway.
-
It would be debatable in the magazine if it was the only advertising of the opening. But FB ads are insidious, because no one even knows they’re not getting them.

We knew the fix was in, but just couldn’t figure out where exactly. Great job fleshing this out!

So you're saying employers have to go back to scattershot marketing? This isn't 1950. BTW tell me with a straight face that a woman wouldn't have a better chance of getting this job:pic.twitter.com/XcFNMzrnCp
-
Hmmmm... I seem to be missing where this posting specifically targets women. Do you even understand why they are suing? You’re trying to find hypocrisy where none exists. Yes a woman MIGHT be better suited for a job concerning women’s health but this isn’t targeting. Try again.
-
One ad seeking a roofer. Another, from a moving company seeking drivers. Let me ask you, would you target the 70-85 female demo for these jobs? ACLU may not be doing targeted ads for my example I gave, but guess what I have no problem if they did.
-
But you SHOULD have a problem with it. That’s kinda the point.
-
No I'm good. Have a nice day!
-
Of course you are. You’re a privileged white male and have rarely (if ever) been discriminated against for that whereas women and POC have, daily. Go to the back of the room and listen and learn
-
You don't know anything me, so make that comment is rude.
