Question: With all of the people on twitter ranting about police brutality and the overstepping of the justice system, especially when it involves PoC's or the LGBTQ, how is it that these same people can so easily brush off Sisk's story? 1/5

This sounds stupid and all, but the Furry fandom is pretty much closed off from the rest of the world. Since most of Sisks vocal supporters are in the fandom, it's going to be a hard time getting her story heard unless someone from outside happens upon this story.
-
Within the fandom, she's known as a sergal. Which sadly, many still believe that all Sergals are literal Nazis. Even some members of AltFurry dislike them. So your gonna have people saying she deserves what she got, basing it merely on the fact she is a Sergal.

Also, in America at least, the idea of a sex offender actually being the victim is almost unheard of. Even when there is evidence supporting the fact that one could be completely innocent, people prefer to deny that out of fear/hatred.
-
Speaking of fear, we are so willing to throw someone in prison for life even if there is evidence supporting their innocence. The reason? "It's better to put an innocent man away for life rather than let a *possible* terrorist walk free."
-
Lastly, she did plead guilty. It's funny because she was in a situation that even an AI would say that, no matter how innocent you are, pleading guilty is the only logical choice to hopefully being given a lesser sentence.
-
In fairness, she faced 300 years in a trial that wouldn't hear any defense. The plea bargain was the only way to avoid a worse sentence. Its like being given a choice of how you want to die, and the choices being slow and painful, or slow and slightly less painful.

Exactly. Yet most Americans think think this is fair when it's really one of the most illogical aspects of our justice system.
-
The plea deal was made to coax guilty suspects into admitting their wrongdoing. However if you're innocent, you were expected to continue with the trial Funny thing is if you are found guilty by an obviously biased jury, everyone will call you a liar because twelve peeps said so
