Le degré de bêtise de ce papier, écrit par l'un des éditorialistes arabes les plus en vue, est ahurissant. Grille d'analyse figée dans le temps, précisément en 1956

In the end what was done/is being done in Syria will not stop in Syria. The model was tried and tested and found to work. Islamophobia works, the 'war on terror' narrative works - on both right and left. It's foolish to believe oppressors won't use it as often as they could now.

De Mistura must resign. He has consistently assisted the regime's reconquest in Syria. The "local ceasefires" policy he embraced was personally approved by Bashar al Assad. It freed up the regime's stretched manpower so it could concentrate it on one besieged pocket at a time.

Will it ask the blue helmets to barrel-bomb Idlib themselves?

This is the dumbest & most obscene thing I’ve read today: ”There is no other Idlib," De Mistura said, stressing the need to ensure civilians can evacuate to nearby areas under government control, with guarantees their rights will be respected once there”

Every day, additional families of detainees held in Syrian regime prisons are notified that their relatives died in detention. I analyze what this means in this new piece.

Carter proves as inclined as others to resolving Syria simply by projecting his own fantasies onto it. In his version--as surreal as the bellicose options it purports to oppose--the regime, rehabilitated and bankrolled, holds itself accountable

    3) There is no division between "war" and "peace". "Peace" in is just an extension of the current conflict through other means. Examples: 1) detention/torture/disappearance of millions; 2) reconstruction forcing communities who rose up in 2011 to live on their knees. 3/3

DN couldn't have an actual spokesperson of the Assad regime on as that would very likely endanger Razan. But why Cockburn? What was the added value, other than his (white male) voice of authority? Razan was already well established as an authority by 2013.

Russia ramps up its campaign to rehabilitate and normalize the Assad regime. $ is secondary. Legitimacy is primary. Just say no to reconstruction. For more, see this.
