Remarkable! Turkey, which knows HTS more than anyone else, designates it as a terror group and links it to AL QAEDA!

Iraqi politics is a mess: Both Nasr (of PM Haider Abadi) & Fateh (of the PMUs/Hashd) are now in shambles, although things seem to be moving in PMUs’s favor, and further enhancing Sadr’s position as the kingmaker in the upcoming government:

  10. The Iraqi PM is brilliant: he justified his short-lived alliance with the PMUs as a cross-sectarian one; later took photos with the PMUs & said the PMUs shouldn’t be politicized; & he now relieves an apparent rival from position coz he wants government positions to be apolitical!

Maybe I need to reassess Qais Khazali. Seems like he was highly cooperative with his US captors as he angled for a bartered release. Read here how he gave up lots of tactically useful information on Badr, Sadr and Kataib Hezbollah via

  13. I’ll elaborate on this in time, but I don’t believe that Idlib will be an Armageddon as most of us seem to think. It’ll be more Deir Ezzor than Raqqa.

As expected, Assad will likely go for the low-hanging fruit in Idlib - that allows him to 1) carve out more territory 2) without disrupting Russia’s understanding with Turkey *for now*: “Syrian army preparing phased Idlib assault: source”
