FBI arrests person in Los Angeles in connection with threat against Oklahoma School for The Deaf

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested one person in Los Angeles, California, in connection with a threat made against the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, officials with the school told KOCO 5 on Monday.

Officials with the school said they shut down the campus Thursday after receiving a threatening phone call. According to school officials, they received a threatening phone call at 12:22 p.m. threatening “grave danger” to anyone associated with a school employee unless that person is fired within 48 hours.

Officials said they immediately notified the Sulphur Police Department, which contacted the FBI.

The school was in session when the threat was made. Enrollment, which was previously scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed until further notice, officials said.

School officials said they believe that the threatening phone call is connected with a series of social media posts, phone calls and emails. The communications alleged that a family member of the employee has made negative social media statement about a transgender student attending Achilles Independent Schools.

According to school officials, the person arrested in Los Angeles confessed to making a threatening phone call to the school.
