    3. The PKK is a listed terrorist organization and its offshoot has carried out attacks in Turkey. But across the border in Iraq, among the Yazidis, they were seen as heros. When Kurdish troops fled as ISIS advanced, they were among the only ones that came to the aid of civilians

    2. I interviewed Zaki Shingali at his base in 2015. He was a beloved figure among the Yazidi minority, which considers Sinjar to be its ancestral home because he was among the military commanders who came to the aid of the Yazidis when they were attacked by ISIS in 2014:

    At 0737hrs today, a car was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament. The male driver of the car was detained by officers at the scene. A number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers remain at the scene. We will issue further info when we have it.
