You, woke Muslim critic: Why haven't Muslims ever called for the abolishment of slavery?! Me, broke Muslim: The great scholar Ibn Ashur (b. 1879) said freedom from all enslavement "reflects the notion of equality that constitutes one of the essential objectives of the sharia".

al-Qa'ida loyalists reacted strongly against the NLF merger, saying it's a implemention of Astana & warns of impending attack on them & HTS shouldn't be trusted to defend them. Related, 2 more small groups (Ansar al-Haqq, Abna al-Sharia) join Hurras al-Din along with some jurists

With this grand merger, there's only 3 factions/alliances left in Idlib: 1) NLF 2) HTS along with allied non-AQ jihadi groups like TIP. 3) Hilf Nusrat al-Islam (Hurras al-Din and Ansar al-Tawhid) with pro-AQ groups. Maverick FSA group Jaysh al-Ezza status still unclear.

Regarding the debate on the killing himself to evade capture, is it allowed within jihadi circles or forbidden: There's a 45 page treatise from 2005 by Salafi Jihadi publishers at-Tibyan Publications (openly available online) arguing that it could be allowed.
