If the Syrian opposition decides to end its decisive stance for a united centralized Syria, they could hold up elections and split Syria de-facto or guarantee an autonomous region for the opposition. Only a elected government is needed to achieve this at the current stance

However, figures of the Syrian opposition reject any idea like this, but I think its time to rethink the oppositions attitude for Syria in general. We already have 2 somehow elected pseudo governments in Syria - Assad regime and the YPG.
