Fremont delivery center no deliveries today (8/8)

Received the following email the night before delivery:

Good evening,

Your vehicle is not yet ready for delivery. 

We apologize for any inconvenience, your Inside Delivery Advisor will reschedule you once the car is ready.

This is an automated message, please do not respond to this email.

I would've been more patient had they provided a reason why the vehicle was not ready. To exacerbate the situation my IDA did not respond to emails/calls even after going through Tesla support and having them initiate the conversation. The VIN has disappeared from my account (81 days waiting, RWD Blue)

Was supposed to receive the car on the 7th. Same issue as everyone else. This seems like a really widespread problem. Tesla canceled over 30 people on the 7th. Something is seriously up.

My issue was paint along with the other 30 people who weren't able to take delivery. Paint issues were with all types of colors including msm, white, blue and black.

Considering how many posts about paint contaminants I'm seeing on Tesla forums I'm not really surprised. Several people have said they got cars with lots of dirt underneath the paint and someone on TMC found a hair underneath the paint on their car and they had photos of it which was pretty crazy. I'm honestly really confused how a hair managed to get under the red paint since the paint booth is automated. Maybe someone went in to make adjustments to the robot and contaminated the crap out of the booth?

I wouldn't be surprised if they're basically taking all these cars back to have the paint entirely redone because people are finding these contaminants all over the car.

On the bright side this is making me feel better about missing out on the cheaper paint price by ordering sooner.

I had one really small like this on mine, when talking to the guy at the tint shop he said this happens with all cars but he's really seen an unusual amount with the model 3s he gets in. Said he had a guy come in with msm that had 22 of them and I no longer felt bad about my 1 barely noticeable spot lol.

That's absolutely insane. I can forgive a lot of things but a hair just seems unprofessional. I sure hope Elon is aware of the issues. It does seem like he is by what was said on the conference call. I am still awaiting word on a new vin. If my IDA doesn't respond today I'm going to have to request a new one that is a bit more helpful.

Still don’t have it. Was supposed to take deliver last weekend and when I saw my car there was a scratch on the bumper which went into the paint, so I got them to agree to replace it with a new bumper.

Wasn't there some tweets from someone who worked down at the paint dept saying how things were going smoothly? Perhaps someone should send her a tweet and see what's up...

What’s really weird reading through all the posts is all the problems are different - scratched fender, paint, rear camera, damaged during offloading - surprised there would be widespread issues stopping all deliveries that are unique to each car...

Why is it surprising? This is what happens when production is rushed and you cut corners on QA.

Hmm this is interesting...I was able to take delivery of my model 3 on the 7th at fremont, along with dozens of others it seemed. This was in the morning though, 11:45am was my delivery time.

I actually feel kind of lucky now reading this. I haven't found any issues with my car. But that makes me wonder if I had scheduled delivery just one day later on the 8th, if my delivery would have been cancelled too.

Mo deliveries, mo problems. That's all this is. Plenty of cars still reported being delivered so it's not some widespread shutdown.

FYI, the VIN disappears from your account so that you can’t access your vehicle controls through the app. My vehicle delivery was delayed by a week (after I had arrived for pickup at the Delivery Center 😐) but when I left I still had some access to my vehicle controls through the app. It wasn’t until they removed the VIN from my account that the Tesla app booted me because it said there was no vehicle associated with my account.
