    Thousands of children grew up without seeing their fathers or brothers. Thousands of Barzani women never remarried &decided to raise their children. Three years ago I visited Barzan cemetery and found three sisters sitting by a graveyard, all lost their husbands

    35 years ago today, the Ba’ath regime of Saddam Hussein started the extermination of 8,000 Kurds in the Barzan region. The bodies of most of these Kurds have never been recovered.The crimes of the previous regime has made many Kurds to be suspicious of a strong central government
