My home delivery was scheduled for 4-6pm tonight. Tesla called at 3pm to tell me they can't find my car. "It didn't show up" was what I was told and they're not sure where it is at present. A little disappointing after both my wife and I had taken time off from work to be home. They assure me that there's an "85% chance" they'll find the car by Friday, which is when the new delivery has been scheduled. Of course, the car has already been paid for and is being carried on my insurance.
It's not that big of a deal, as I was expecting something like this to happen. Everything seemed to be moving a little too fast. I now have to cancel the tint appointment for the new car and the service appointment for my other car, but that's my fault for thinking everything would go right. But I did ping my ISA yesterday to ensure things were on track and was told unequivocally that we were on schedule.
I know, I know, there's 60,000 other people who had no problems whatsoever.
Fwiw, your insurance should adjust the policy start date based on delivery. You have no vehicle in your name until you sign the delivery acceptance paperwork.
I feel your pain. My home delivery was scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30. This is the third scheduled delivery, as the first one was "no car" and the second one was "no purchase contract". At 3pm today I received this from my IDA, "I’m currently working on ensuring that everything is good to go. I saw you called just now. I’ll be getting back to you a little later today once I’ve confirmed everything for you."
So far, I've not heard back. Still can't do the ACH for the downpayment, so at least I haven't paid for mine yet!
I hope Friday works out for you!
No car for me, today. This is the third time in 2 weeks that Tesla has scheduled a delivery and then failed to show. An email from the IDA sent 2 hours after the scheduled delivery window offers no explanation or apology, just new time slots for delivery either Friday or Saturday.
Damn that sux dgstan.... :-(
Change the start date on your insurance - don't give them money for nothin'!
Hang in there! It's almost here
Wow! That’s insane!
Thanks for the sympathy, sun. Sounds like you've got it worse than me. I did have them take my wife's name off the registration. Otherwise, she has to be there to sign and her schedule is crazy. She already took part of today off to accommodate Tesla. Luckily, I'm not financing, so there's no contract-related things to go wrong.
I'm just surprised they don't know where every car is at any given time.
1. Comes off the line, scan it.
2. Goes on a truck, scan it.
3. Comes off a truck, scan it.
4. Goes to a lot, scan it.
Just spitballin' here...
I had the same problem in April when they sent the wrong vin# car. And then tried to bait and switch me into another car that was built about a month earlier for someone else. I called corporate and got the run around until I told them find my car that I ordered with my Vin# or I want the next one of the line. Then they finally rushed my vin# car out to me. The thing I did notice was that it had 48 miles on it when everyone else picking up cars had a lot less miles on them
It's not like it's the size of a pill, a button, or a card you could accidentally drop.
It's not painted in camouflage, so you might lose it in a forest...
dgstan: Sorry this happened to you. Best wishes for a happy resolution. Your title reminds me of being in a large department store when an announcement goes out over the PA system...
"Attention Associates: We have a 'Lost Parent' in the Toy Department. Please direct any Lost Parents to the Toy Department. Thank you."
Seriously, how many cars get lost for real? I'll pore over tomorrow's P&L and see if it's a line item.
Dgstan - those would be "in transit", doesn't mean they know where to!
