i may be naive to think it is possible for Middle East to come together and heal its wounds but it is more naive to think that a major war on Iran will lead to anything good.

Those who advocate economic sanctions on Iran should remember they don't hurt the regime. The regime is strong enough to protect itself against a hungry nation's revolution. May be it is time to give up the politics of maintaining regional stability at the expense of nations.

I grew up in the 1990s Iraq. The country was under international sanctions supposedly to punish Saddam. Guess what, the only people who suffered was us the people while Saddam, his family, the Kurdish ruling families & the oligarchs enjoyed life and made huge sums of money. .

Twitter for dummies: If you are president of a country and you don’t wanna something trending on Twitter, don’t talk about it. and if you talked about it, don’t say you don’t want it trending especially if it had trended before. Even worse, don’t do that with Egyptians.

It seems the influx of Kurdish Facebook to Twitter to see Qubad Talabani’s pearls hasn’t helped at all. More Qubads needed.

Among the tens of thousands arrested are many men of faith with no criminal record. They are been sentenced to death I sham trials. There is also an American among them whose death sentence was changed to prison. Will we ever hear Pence making cowboy threats for their release?

Russia will have to utilise its long known chess skills in the very short future. How to drive Turkey further away from the West & make it more dependent on Russia, offer Trump some pre-election support, find a new cause for the far right & make some gains from the rich GCC.

As it can be seen, NO ONE has an existential problem with Assad. Everyone wants him but at a price. What Assad has to care for is Russia and Israel and to a lesser degree Iran/Hezbollah. So the real question is no longer Assad's fate but iran's role in Syria!

Saudi: The short term goal of Saudis in Syria is curbing Iranian influence and the long term is curbing the Turkish influence. They are in accordance with the US/Israeli vision. They also want some role for SDF.

Turkey: Main priority is keeping pro-PKK forces away from its borders and make sure they do not enjoy great autonomy under Assad. Wants a save-facing solution for idlib. Doesn't want more refugees.
