@maxwellpjones because of NY election law, he could only refuse nomination if he were moved to a nomination for another office.

Okay I see, the article didn’t make that clear. It just said that he had the option to decline the party’s nomination and didn’t...technically true but not the full picture
-
The article is clear and there is no reason not to use the established, even if weird, completely legal option for vacating the line. Vacate the line Joe!pic.twitter.com/AKgovMSaoN
-
By the way election fraud is not defined by your feelings and "beliefs" Joe, so you can go ahead and vacate the line now.
-
He could consent to vacate the line.
@NYWFP can’t remove him without putting him in a different line. If he agreed to vacate it, it would be simple.pic.twitter.com/CNeAPZzOzH -
1/You ppl don’t seem to read well—he has only 3 ways to “vacate the line” as you put it, & he conceded. I’ve never heard you ask Bernie to “vacate” via a complex legal maneuver, or anyone else for that matter. You know what it sounds like? That you’re scared AOC will lose.
-
You also don’t put articles in context, so I did it for you: Here’s O-C running for two offices @ once & not “vacating the line”:pic.twitter.com/2wyMXdTiqn
-
Oh, and here’s Crowley conceding and calling her, but it must be his fault that she didn’t answer. Y’all must be terrified she can’t win if you’re being this petty & misrepresenting things so much.pic.twitter.com/QEfNWvzz2l

Just move down to Virginia. You spent most of your days representing us down there anyway. You shouldn't be on the ballot at all!pic.twitter.com/JZIWAlEOpn
-
Good then we will give him another epic beat-down in the polling places of NY!!

You live in VA, change your legal residency, problem solved. Very suspicious that you're not willing to fill out a couple DMV forms to sort this out. If you haven't noticed, Ocasio-Cortez has risen to hero status, if you play any shifty games on this, there will be hell to pay.
-
It is not unusual for many of the long-term reps to have homes in VA so that family can live with or visit. He isn't playing games and btw I don't care for him just giving you facts.
-
I'm not questioning his motives for living in VA, just his motives for not performing the simple steps to make that residency legal so he's not a spoiler on a ballot in a mostly Dem district. He can make that a non-issue, no skin off his back- absolutely shady.
-
The 4 reasons he is not being shady.. 1) you move out of NY; 2) die; 3) be convicted of a crime; 4) accept a nomination for another office. +the WFP has to abide by their bylaws in order to remove him from ballot he can't do that himself. Read the article.
-
1) He already lives outside of NY, no need to move, just fill in a forms to make it official. Both you and he are making my point for me.
-
He lives there because he is in office. I'm sure he'll be back in NY as soon as his term is over. As a person who's moved a lot, I wouldn't want to deal with all the paperwork. Ocasio and WFP brought up a petty issue here.
-
What happens if he did switch his residency to VA or DC? Does he need to resign from office?
-
Requirement to be a us rep is that you do have to be residing in the state (not necessarily the district), so yes, he would have to resign.

You should do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get off the ballot. And you know it. Excuses won’t cut it.
-
He should just become a Washington lobbyist or sit on corporate boards, or both- isn’t that what they all do?
-
That’s exactly how Crowley has spent the majority of his time in Congress, just as he has spent the majority of his time living in Virginia with his children attending school there.
