To seriously argue for an Islamic democracy, one must accept the presuppositions that the ideologues of democracy present as being self-evident. Firstly, that it is "good". Secondly, that it produces "freedom". Thirdly, that it even exists and is not a smokescreen.

Much in the same way, a successful authoritarian state like China defies the West's demands for democracy and shows people don't care as long as they feel like their country is prospering and has stability.

The West wouldn't actually support them to democracy, they'd just sabotage it along the way in favour of a docile authoritarianism so that China remains a backwater while the West (read: America) continues its imperial hegemony.
