We're going to try an experiment. Our full iOS + Computer Science course (30 weeks) + a MacBook you can keep + free housing in San Francisco for the full 30 weeks. You pay $0 until you're making $50k+, then 17% of salary for 3 years, capped at $40k. We'll select 10 students.

If you'd like to take this offer, email experiment@lambdaschool.com and send a few paragraphs as to why you think you'd be a good fit, and why Lambda School should bet on you.

One thing to note: you must be a US Citizen. Unfortunately we don’t qualify for student visas.

Also, since this is the first time a lot of people are hearing about Lambda School: The education is still a live remote education, so you can attend from anywhere. This experiment is bundling in awesome housing and a computer and us paying for it all upfront.

If we’re not paying for housing or computer etc. it’s 17% for *two* year’s capped at $30k. You still don’t pay unless you’re making $50k+. You can do that from anywhere in the US, but it’s a full-time course for 30 weeks.

this sounds extremely suspiciously like @LearnersGuildUS which exploited its students and then folded

I know Learners Guild folded, but how did they exploit the students? I don't know the backstory

I can dm you or email you a longer explanation if you'd like, but the short and sweet of it was marketing towards minorities who had no other option and then having no real curriculum or support structures in place for us after claiming otherwise

More or less, yes. It felt very much like a quick cash grab for them. By the time we realized it we were already signed to contracts and had to make the best of it

Any chance of remote/online courses in the future? Older students will have family/kids. 30 weeks is a long time to be away.

Then why the 30 week housing in SF?

Because paying for housing for 30 weeks without a full time income is hard to do

True. Im looking through a 40 year old lens rather than a 25 year old one. Where can i see the pricing or payback structure?

I don't want to move from Pittsburgh yo. Unless someone is paying 500-1000k /yr, I'm not moving. I have too many little ones of family would be heart broken. I wouldn't even be that excited if someone did offer me 500k, cuz I really don't want to move. Telecommute though...

I'm not looking for telecommute classes. I started coding 36 years ago, a degree from Carnegie Mellon, and several shipped Independent Video Games. A telecommute job is something I may entertain, but I haven't found any opportunities.
