anyone who sees sexualizing family dynamics as anything other than extremely harmful and dangerous is not someone i want to be in the company of. i dont even care if it’s “two consenting adults”, sexualizing childhood in any form is absolutely disgusting

I don’t disagree w/ this but I’m... baffled that this is happening, back in my day I occasionally talked about how my parents were abusive/unsupportive so people would be like “I’m your mom/dad now” and that’d be it, no follow up aside from the occasional inside joke
-
That’s different from what OP is talking about. OP is more talking about an older stranger pushing a parental image and trying to make (usually) younger members of the fandom call them stuff like Mom or mommy, and are usually kinda gross about it

What do you mean by internet mom? Like a mom friend (the one that cock blocks you and shit lmao) or something totally different?
-
self-proclaimed "INTERNET MOMMA SAYS" types. i always found them obnoxious but OP helped me put into words what alarm bells it was they were setting off... totally different than a pal who gets called "the mom friend" by others bc they send everyone to bed on time
-
Okay thank god because im always called the mom friend and i can see why they call me that lmao

I've actually had this happen to some extent. I was pretty stupid and thought we were real good friends, but he wanted me to call him "dad," and "daddy," whenever I mentioned or talked to him
-
I've had a few furs want to call me "dad" or "daddy". And it's creepy as hell to me.

I had a friend who was like this.. Always posting nsfw stuff and making lewd jokes and stuff. They were 27 and dating like 5 different people and one of them was freshly 18 while the other was freshly 20.. Still makes my skin crawl knowing how close I was to them

ive always been suspicious of any of the twenty billion generic furries that build their identity around some kind of milf aesthetic or whatever, it's sus as fuck at the best of times and outright horrible the rest of the time.

What does grooming mean in this case? Sorry, I would like to understand what it means, because I hope to avoid doing it
-
Grooming typically refers to when they're teaching you mannerisms that aim for them to exploit you / use you sexually. It's different from being the "mom" friend or telling younger followers you're a sibling / parent type out of consideration.
-
I tell a lot of younger followers that I'll be their big bro and they can rely on me but I don't push that title on them, instead I know my place as an older figure they can trust. Usually with grooming they push the title and get off to being called mommy/daddy/ etc
-
Ah, I understand now. I use the daddy joke with a few of my friends sometimes, but that is an unsettling thing to happen to the young'uns. I'll keep it to a minimum if not not using it at all to avoid ambiguity. Thanks for the clarification!
-
Nah I do the same! Between friends understanding it's a joke is separate from someone wanting a minor to call them dad / daddy in an incestual type of way. And no prob, glad I could help!
