I agree with friends not necessarily having to leave someone but trying to help and standing by their side BUT not by supporting and enabling bad behavior. And if you see that someone isn’t going to take your advice or doesn’t try to change then I think it is reason to distance

I did try to work with him and even offered to take him to my therapist but he didn’t want to. You can only try. All in all I’m much happier now and shouldn’t have waited it out for so long.
Everyone matures at their own rate. Some I wonder if they will ever mature to a point of knowing what empathy is and feels like, but you tried your best and don't worry about that, we all wait in toxic environments too long. But it's very hard to see it when it's happening to you

I have proof that my ex abused me when I was a minor but he still managed to turn a bunch of people against me... it helps when they’re manipulative, and have things that people want, like art, money, or popularity. I’m happy that you’re in a better place

It’s a very common phenomenon especially with female since the early days. Often the woman gets the blame and people just role with it
when we first met i just got out of a similar situation of a over controlling manipulative and dangerous bf, red was the one who pulled me out of it and opened my eyes to a lot of things that were wrong i always tell people to listen to their friends cuz they can save your life
I’m sorry you went trough that and that Red treats you the way you deserve. Things were definitely complicated because of the financial and emotional dependency too. I think things would’ve been different if I had my parents or friends around back then to have my back.
